Maldivian authorities have begun disinfecting the entirety of the Hulhumale’ amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is part of the disinfection program conducted by the Male’ City Council and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). Under the program, authorities began disinfecting the streets of Male’ City this past Monday.

And so, the Male’ City ring road will be sprayed with chlorine water as part of program. And with the use of a bowser, the smaller, inner roads are being sprayed as well.

Talking to the press before starting the disinfection, Male’ City Mayor, Shifa Mohamed, said that the cleaning process will involve two phases; cleaning the roads and collecting the waste and pallets that are potentially dangerous to the public.

Disinfection in Hulhumale’ today is being carried out by using a vehicle of the MNDF Fire and Rescue.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) said that aside from the roads, bus stops and apartment blocks and commercial blocks will be disinfected under the program.

HDC said that the program will take two days.
