Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez has confirmed that the government has not closed off Maldives borders.

Speaking during a press conference Mabrouq noted that some media reports have claimed that the government closed off the Maldivian borders today. He refuted those claims and noted that the government has not done such.

He added that each day the current situation is assessed and necessary action is then decided. He further stressed that reporting on such fake news would create mass spread panic.

While 13 positive cases of Covid-19 has been found in the Maldives, five of them have recovered so far. No Maldivian has tested positive for Covid-19 yet.
