Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez has stressed that it was too early to determine whether Maldives have recovered from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking during a press conference held today, Mabrouq noted that even though the spread of Covid-19 seems to be under control in the Maldives as of now, the global outbreak may cause a mass outbreak in the Maldives at any given time too.
Noting that the global total for Covid-19 has surpassed 300,000, Mabrouq said that it was worrying since the initial 100,000 infections were reported over 90 days or so. The toll hit 200,000 in 11 days and has now reached 300,000 in less than a week.
Mabrouq further stressed that it was an easily spreadable and dangerous virus.
So far there are 13 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives. Of this, three have fully recovered.
