Health Protection Agency has announced that individuals who refuse to follow the home-isolation orders will be fined MVR 5,000.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru said that the order to self-isolate or quarantine an individual is made to prevent the spread of a disease or virus. This is a step taken to further ensure the safety of public health.
As such any individual who refuses such an order is putting the community at a potential risk. Under Article 17 (B) of the Protection of Public Health Act, any individual who refuses such an order will be fined MVR 5,000. Said individuals will also be named.
So far there are 13 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives.
