Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that they are working to take samples from a second Maldivian national who returned from Spain, and had shown COVID-19 like symptoms upon arrival at Malè.
The individual has been transferred to Farukolhufushi isolation facility for testing and monitoring.
Samples were taken from another Maldivian who had returned to Maldives from Spain yesterday. HPA revealed today that the patient had tested negative for Covid-19. However nine other foreigners who travelled from the same flight were isolated while two of the cabin crew were quarantined at the facility in Vilivaru.
So far travel has been banned from eight countries due to the spread of Coronavirus. These are: China, Italy, Iran, Bangladesh including some regions of Spain, France and Germany.
There are 13 positive cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives so far. All of them are foreigners.
