Health Minister Abdulla Ameen has said that there is no possibility to hold an election on April 4th when taking the rapid spread of Covid-19 is taken into account.
Speaking during a press conference today, Minister Ameen noted that he does not believe large gatherings should be held up until the first week of April due to the nature of the Covid-19.
The Local Council Elections are scheduled for April 4th.
The Minister also noted that Health Protection Agency (HPA) has no grounds to comment about the election itself but noted that they will be providing daily updates regarding Covid-19, including the day of election.
He further noted that the situation is analysed every day and directions are given out in realtime.
