The number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to eight after two people from Kuramathi Maldives resort tested positive for the disease.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the samples tested from two foreigners at the island tested positive for COVID-19 and the next step of identifying those that came in contact with them are under way.
The island has been in quarantine after a person with symptoms of COVID-19 was discovered on the island yesterday.
COVID-19 was first seen at Kuredu Island Resort where four people tested positive for the disease. After that, two people tested positive at Sandies Bathala Maldives Resort. All six of them are foreigners.
Kuramathi Maldives resort, Kuredu Island Resort and Sandies Bathala Maldives Resort are all under temporary quarantine effect with restricted access.
