The suspect Covid-19 patient from One & Only Reethi Rah has been revealed to be a child.

Speaking during a press conference, state Spokesperson for Covid-19 Mabrook Azeez noted that samples from the child has been collected.

However, test results from these samples are yet to be received. The resort has since been put on a lockdown till the test results are available.

So far there are six confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives. Four of these are from hardest hit Kuredu Island Resort while the other two are from Sandies Bathala Island Resort. All confirmed cases are foreign nationals.

Mabrook further said that while 73 samples have been taken so far, six have tested positive alongside 65 negative while results on two samples were still pending.

Mabrook also highlighted that 15 individuals were currently isolated at the isolation facility in Farukolhufushi while nine have been quarantined at the facility in Vilivaru.
