One of the two confirmed Covid-19 patients from Sandies Bathala Island Resort is being transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for further monitoring.

Speaking during a press conference tonight, State spokesperson for Covid-19 noted that the 70 year old patient who tested positive for Covid-19 was being transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for further treatment. Since the two patients are a couple, the second patient from Bathala is also being transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital.

Mabrook noted that a doctor's team had recommended that the 70 year old be monitored closely. Hence the patient will be treated at a special facility at Dharumvavantha Hospital where respiratory diseases are usually treated at.

Speaking further on the condition of the patient, Dr. Muaz Moosa said that the decision to transfer said patient to Dharumavantha Hospital was taken after taking the age of the patient into consideration. Elderly people are among the high risk patients of Covid-19.

Government confirmed the two cases from Sandies Bathala Resort yesterday. They were being kept in Farukolhufushi until their transfer today.

So far there are six confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives, all of whom are foreign nationals. Five islands including Reethi Rah Resort are now on a temporary lockdown.

The islands on lockdown are; Kuredu Island Resort, Vilamendhoo Island Resort, Sandies Bathala Resort, Kuramathi Island Resort along with One & Only Reethi Rah Resort.

Four of the six confirmed cases are traced back to Kuredu Resort, where an orange alert has been issued while the remaining two cases are from Sandies Bathala Resort.

According to Health Ministry statistics, there are a total of 9 people in isolation at Farukolhufushi.
