A Maldivian employee from Kuredu Island Resort who has been identified as a close contact of a confirmed Covid-19 case is being quarantined according to the Health Protection Agency.

HPA noted that the local is being transferred to a quarantine facility for testing as a precautionary measure.

Kuredu Island Resort was the first resort to be placed under a lockdown after an Italian tourist who stayed at the resort had tested positive to Covid-19. Four of the six confirmed cases from Maldives originate to Kuredu Island Resort, and the Italian tourist.

Two other confirmed cases were reported among an Italian couple who were staying at Sandies Bathala Island Resort.

According to HPA statistics, so far there are 15 people at the isolation facility in Farukolhufushi.
