State spokesperson for Covid-19, Mabrook Azeez has stated that if Covid-19 is found within Male' City, schools will be shut down temporarily.
During a press conference held today, Mabrook noted that if Covid-19 was found in Male' City all schools within the city will be close until further notice. He however added that as of now, there were no grounds for such a closure.
Speaking to "One Online" he noted that in such a case the alert level in Male' City would be changed with which schools will also be shut down.
However Dr. Niyaf had previously stated that it was better to keep schools closed regarding the current situation of Covid-10. Ministry of Education reiterated that schools will re-open following the semester break on coming Sunday.
While there are six confirmed cases in the Maldives, additional people are being isolated and treated. HPA had appealed not to mix in with crowds during this time and to delay any major events scheduled for the time being.
