State spokesperson for Covid-19, Mabrook Azeez has revealed that no symptoms are visible as of yet among the 93 who has been isolated in Kuredu Island Resort.
Kuredu Resort was placed under a lockdown after an Italian tourist who stayed at the resort tested positive to Coronavirus upon return to Italy. Following this, a contact trace was made and among those who were tested, two had returned as positive to the virus. These were two foreign workers in the island.
An additional 93 people were then isolated in the island, however they are yet to show any symptoms.
Kuredu is the first among Maldivian islands to be placed under a lockdown. The island was put on a lockdown after Italy confirmed a tourist who went back after staying in the island resort had tested positive to the virus. Following the lockdown, a contact trace was done after which two foreign workers had tested positive to Coronavirus, marking the first official cases in the Maldives.
The two of them have since been moved to the isolation facility in Farukolhufushi, along with the recently confirmed cases as well.
Since then, the island has been put on an Orange Alert with the Maldives being declared a Yellow Alert, nationwide.
