Maldives on Monday confirmed two additional Covid-19 cases in Kuredu Island Resort, linking to the first confirmed case from the resort.
This brings the official tally to six confirmed cases, four of which are from Kuredu Island Resort itself. An Italian who had been holidaying in the resort had confirmed positive to Coronavirus upon returning to Italy. Following this, a test on all those who came into contact with the tourist revealed that two foreign workers from Kuredu Island Resort were positive to the virus, marking the first two confirmed cases in the Maldives.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) noted that the additional two confirmed patients are foreigners as well. However they did not disclose whether they were workers or guests in the resort.
The first two confirmed cases from the resort also includes the resort doctor, all of whom have now been moved to Farukolhufushi. They both were infected after coming into contact with the tourist.
The third and fourth confirmed cases are from Bathala Resort, where two Italian tourists had tested positive for the virus.
