State spokesperson for Covid-19, Mabrook Azeez has revealed that the four confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives are doing good so far.
Mabrook made the announcement during a press conference held today.
He further noted that all four patients are receiving the necessary treatments and that they are doing good as of now.
The first two confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives were two foreign workers in Kuredu Island Resort. They had contracted the virus from an Italian tourist, who had tested positive to the Coronavirus upon returning to Italy.
Two other Italian tourists had also tested positive to Covid-19 at Bathala Resort.
Mabrook also revealed that the Italian tourist who left Kuredu Island Resort had stayed at Maagiri Hotel on March 1st and 2nd. He stayed at the hotel after being unable to depart the country.
Mabrook added that 15 employees from the hotel who came into close contact with the man has since been isolated though they have not shown any symptoms as of yet.
He further added that the ticketing agent at Universal through whom the Italian tourist purchased his tickets have shown symptoms and is now being quarantined at Farukolhufushi. Mabrook confirmed that the Universal employee is a Maldivian.
