A Maldivian national in self-isolation after developing Covid-19 like symptoms in Sh. Foakaidhoo is being transferred to Farukolhufushi for monitoring and testing.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) made the announcement in a tweet tonight.
HPA noted that the person is an employee of Kuredu Island Resort.
Kuredu is the first among Maldivian islands to be placed under a lockdown. The island was put on a lockdown after Italy confirmed a tourist who went back after staying in the island resort had tested positive to the virus. Following the lockdown, a contact trace was done after which two foreign workers had tested positive to Coronavirus, marking the first official cases in the Maldives.
The two of them have since been moved to the isolation facility in Farukolhufushi.
Since then, the island has been put on an Orange Alert with the Maldives being declared a Yellow Alert, nationwide.
