Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that they are doing tests after symptoms of the COVID-19 Corona Virus were reported from an Italian tourist in Maldives.

A tweet sent out by the HPA today said that suspected COVID-19 patient was in Vaavu Atoll Thinadhoo and the authorities are working to transfer the patient to the designated quarantine facility for observation and testing.

While an Italian tourist, a country where the disease has been spreading rapidly in Europe, has been suspected of the disease, a local reported with the symptoms were quarantined yesterday.

Another Maldivian was also quarantined for observation upon returning from Italy. The local was released from quarantine after the tests came back negative.
