As the number of cases of COVID-19 Corona Virus continue to rise, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that it is safer not travel abroad unless absolutely necessary.
The HPA made the remark in a statement issued today.
HPA listed a number of things to keep in mind as the world is on alert for the COVID-19 pandemic. And so, they advised against traveling to the countries with severe cases of the disease especially for the elderly and the people with chronic illnesses. The HPA also advises to get familiar with the precautionary measures being employed by the government of the destination.
The HPA also advises to take precautions while traveling as well including keeping distance from those with sign symptoms of cold and fever. The health department also advises frequent washing of hands with soap and using hand sanitizes.
HPA also advises the same precautions when traveling domestically.
The statement said that travelers should avoid poultry markets and make sure poultry are well cooked before consumption.
HPA said that upon returning from abroad, those with symptoms of fever, cough and sneezing are to stay indoors and contact the emergency hotline 1676 and share the condition and travel details of the person exhibiting the symptoms.
People are advised to properly cover the nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing and coughing and safely dispose of it into a bin. And if there are symptoms of cold and fever, people are advised to stay indoors. As a general safety measure, HPA advises against going to crowds.
