A doctor from India and a doctor from Nepal has gotten into a physical confrontation inside the operation theatre of the Meemu Atoll Muli Regional Hospital.

Maldives Police Service has confirmed the incident to One Online.

Police said that a disagreement that turned into a physical scuffle was reported to the police this morning at 9:45 p.m. Both doctors sustained injuries in the fight that took place at the hospital.

Talking to One Online, the Manager of the Muli Regional Hospital, Ahmed Nafiz said today that a patient was scheduled for surgery when the incident took place. However, since he was not at the hospital at the time of the incident, he cannot confirm the patient was inside the operation theater when the scuffle broke out.

The two doctors involved in the incident today are currently in the custody of the Police.
