Speaker of the Parliament and former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, has said that the government does not want to say that a person does not meet the conditions required when a person is looking for shelter and housing.

Nasheed, who is also the President of MDP, made the statement in his address at a meeting held at Ahmadhiyya School last night with the MDP candidates running in the Male’ City area in the Local Council Election.

At the meetings, a number of concerns from the people of the capital were presented including that of housing. The participants requested a fast solution to the housing crisis.

Addressing the issue, the former President said that the efforts to find a solution to the housing will not be stopped and it is always a topic of discussion when he meets with the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih; and the government has a vision for it. He said that the government is working every day to find a solution to the housing crisis.

Nasheed said that he is aware of the consequences of ignoring the housing issues without a solution and does not want to let it go.
