Speaker of Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed has departed to India on an official visit.

President Nasheed is visiting India to take part in the Conclave organised by India Foundation.

Media and Communication Director at the Parliament, Hassan Ziyau noted that the two dray trip was on an invitation to take part in the inaugural session for the sixth "India Ideas Conclave" orgnaised by India Foundation.

In addition to President Nasheed, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani as well as lawmaker Suresh Prabu will take part in the inaugural sessions of the three day Conclave that will kick off tomorrow in Gujarat.

President Nasheed is expected to return next Sunday.
