Officers of the Maldives Police Service working on the front lines have started using Body Worn Cameras (BWC).

In a tweet sent out today, the Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed said that a random trial is underway to re-issue the body camera. He said that evidence suggests that BWCs are an effective tool to reduce misconduct complaints and bolster public confidence.

The BWCs were initially introduced in 2015. It was then used by officers in Male’ City only.
