Health Protection Agency (HPA) has appealed not to hold events which will gather large amounts of people into one place.

In a statement issued by HPA, they noted that the coronavirus symptoms have been showing up from people who have never traveled to China in South East Asian countries and that the virus is spreading further in the area. Further safety warnings have been issued to people traveling to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Iran, Hong Kong and South Korea as well.

The HPA further stressed that they are monitoring the situation and latest updates on the virus and analyzing what Maldivians needed to be aware of in terms of safety. Additional safety measures such as keeping track of virus spread if traveling to a country with confirmed cases and staying away from people with symptoms were also suggested.

HPA advised on self-quarantining in the event of flu like symptoms after traveling as well as using hand sanitisers often.
