Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Customs Recreation Club, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have all improved their opening games at the Inter Office Billiard Tournament organized by the Maldives Pool Billiard Association (MPBA).
The tournament being held at the MPBA club house began yesterday with men’s singles matches in the afternoon and the team events last night.
At the first match of the Team Event, MACL defeated Dhiraagu with three straight games with the MACL winning the first game with three straight frames. The second game was 4-1 and MACL won the final frame with another straight four.
The second match saw Maldives Islamic Bank take on Customs Recreation. The first game was won by Customs with 3-4 followed by a win for MIB with 4-3 before Customs claimed the final game with 1-4.
In the third game, MPL defeated the President’s Office with three straight games. They won the first game with three straight frames. The second game was 4-3 and final frame with another straight four frames.
The final match last night was between Police Club and MNDF where MNDF won 1-2. The first two games were won by MNDF 1-4 and the Police Club won the final game 4-3.
There are 13 teams taking part in the tournament is set to continue up to 2 March. They are MACL, Dhiraagu, Customs Recreation Club, MIB, MPL, Presidential Office, Police Club, MNDF, State Electric Company (STELCO), Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Trans Maldives Airways (TMA), FENAKA and the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
This tournament will see 44 matches with 63 players in the Men’s Singles division and eight matches with eight players in the Women’s Singles division. And starting with two groups, the Team Event will have a total of 63 matches.
