Some of the islands in the Maldives have been affected by strong swell waves.
Maldives Police Service said that they have had reports of swell waves in Noonnu Atoll Holhudhoo and Meemu Atoll Dhiggaru along with Haa Alifu Thuraakunu, Raa Atoll Kinolhas and many others.
The most damage from swell waves due to strong winds and rough seas were reported from Noonu Atoll Holhudhoo. Police said that houses were flooded in Dhiggaru as well.
Vice President of the Holhudhoo Island Council, Mohamed Afrah told One Online that about 15 houses were flooded in the island.
He said that the strong swell waves hit the island around midnight last night and while the details of the damage are not yet available, about 15 houses were flooded.
MET Office has issued an advisory for the next 48 hours due to strong winds and rough seas along with the possibility of swell waves.
