Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has met with senior officials of the Commonwealth and the UK including Minister of State for International Environment and Animal Welfare Lord Zac Goldsmith and Foreign Minister of State Commonwealth,United Nations & South Asia Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon.

Minister Shahid held the meeting during his travel to the United Kingdom after the Maldives was accepted back into the Commonwealth.

The Minister also met Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland and discussed the aid that the Commonwealth provide the Maldives.

Minister Shahid also attended the ceremony to change the name plate of the Maldives Embassy in UK to the High Commission of Maldives. Secretary General Patricia also attended the ceremony.

Minister Shahid met with Director General of the Commonwealth Foundation Anne Therese Gallagher, on areas where the Maldives can collaborate with the Commonwealth Foundation. The Minister also met with the Royal Commonwealth Society and discussed areas of collaboration with them as well.

Maldivian Ambassador to the UK Farhanaz Faizal and Majority Leader Ali Azim also attended all meetings in the UK.
