Maldives Police Service and Gender Ministry has requested the public not to share videos of children which compromises their identities on social media regardless inappropriate behavior.

The request came at a time when a video of two children engaged in an inappropriate behavior had gone viral on social media. A video of some children detailing abuse that they have gone through had also gone viral recently.

"We urge the public to report such things to police rather than share it on social media. Circulating such videos have a detrimental effect on the children involved," Police said in their appeal.

They requested not to victimize such children but to report to the 1412 hotline.
