Aishath Mohamed Didi, who is to be appointed as the new Minister of Gender has said that authorities need to be checked for the provision of a safe environment for children and be held accountable.

In a Facebook post, she noted that such a safe environment would be one that encourages every child to reach their maximum potential and one that welcomes and respects all children.

Hence, she added that all authorities that serve children should be checked whether they are able to facilitate such and should be held accountable through relevant laws and regulations.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced his decision to appoint Aishath Mohamed Didi, who is currently serving as the High Commissioner of Maldives to India last Thursday.
