There have been reports that the Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Shidhatha Shareef, will be resigning from office today.

One Online has learned that Minister Shidhatha met with the Ministry staff this morning to thank her employees for their support so far and indicated a possible resignation later today.

When the Media Official of the Gender Ministry was asked about the Minister’s meeting this morning, the Media Official said that such information will be given from the President’s Office. Although the official did not deny that a meeting took place.

The Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh said that he is not aware that the Gender Minister has resigned from office.

MDP Parliamentary Group voted unanimously with 45 members to remove Minister Shidhatha from office after she was accused of negligence in handling child abuse related cases. And an MP of MDP has said that if she does not resign, a no-confidence motion will be filed against her at the parliament.
