President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to donate 1 million cans of tuna to China,

This donation reflects a gesture of goodwill extended towards the people of China by the people of Maldives amidst the rapid escalation and the spread of Novel Coronavirus in China.

"The Government and the people of the Maldives stand firmly with the Government and the people of China in their efforts to curb the Novel Coronavirus outbreak. The Government of Maldives acknowledge and appreciates the assistance and assurance extended by the Government of China to the Maldivians currently living in China," a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry read.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid handed over the gifts to Chinese Ambassador, Zhang Lizhong.
