Ahmed Hishan who has been a prominent figure in aiding people with disabilities have been dismissed as the Honorary Disability Ambassador by the state.

In a statement issued by the Gender Ministry regarding the dismissal, the Ministry noted that such people in honorary positions doing social work must be trusted by the public. They explained the reasoning behind the dismissal as trusted information regarding an investigation into Hishan by the Maldives Police Service have been made public.

While he has been dismissed as the Honorary Disability Ambassador, he was recently taken in for questioning after having boarded a flight that was outbound. His passport has since been withheld due to the ongoing investigation.

Even though no details of the investigation has been made public, many on social media are accusing him of sexually abusing children.
