Isolation facilities have been set up at Velana International Airport and Hulhumale, and a special ICU has been allocated to treat anyone with serious conditions in the wake of the coronavirus that has been spreading rapidly worldwide.

The President's Office noted that these were preventive measures that are being taken by the country due to the outbreak. This includes the 12-bed isolation facility in Hulhumalé Hospital and a four-bed isolated Intensive Care Unit in Dharumavantha Hospital.

A special task force has now been set up, with whom regular discussions are being held regarding the spread of the virus.

The President's Office further revealed that thermal screening setup was completed at VIA on January 22nd while the setup was completed at Addu International Airport today. In addition to this, the Foreign Ministry and STO are working together to procure more cameras to be placed at other entry points.

Three ambulances have been designated to transport any cases and a call centre to provide information about the virus have also been established. Clinical guidelines and a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) had also been formulated to address any possible cases that may arise.
