11 employees from the Ministry of Transport and Civil Authority has been dismissed over attendance issues.
Civil Service Commission (CSC) informed the Ministry about the dismissal of the 11 employees this morning. The letter by CSC informed the Ministry if any of those 11 employees want to submit their resignation, a notice should be sent to the CSC by 12pm tomorrow.
Permanent Secretary of the Transport Ministry, Ahmed Fayaz revealed to One Online that those who were dismissed include junior employees as well as mid-level and senior management employees.
The decision to fire said employees had escalated to a point where a petition was submitted to the Parliament and the President. Transport Ministry Aishath Nahula previously reported to the media that the employees in question had intense attendance issues. She even added that such employees create numerous challenges in providing the best of services to the general public.
The Minister stressed that all employees should strive to be respectful of their working hours and to be punctual in order to serve the nation better.
Fayaz further noted that some of these employees have an attendance record below half of what it should be for the past three years. Some of these are late 60% of their entire total of working days.
The Ministry had also stated that they had sent the issue to the CSC along with the statements of the employees in question.
