Health Minister Ibrahim Ameen has revealed that 30,000 doses of the measles vaccine will be shipped into the Maldives with the aid of neighbouring India.

The minister made the statement during a press conference held regarding the situation of measles in the Maldives as well as the coronavirus that has been found in China.

Minister Ameen did further note that the 30,000 doses are an addition to the 200,000 doses of vaccine already available in the country, as he had previously revealed during a press conference. He had also thanked the Indian government for their generous help.

In addition to this, the Minister revealed that a total of 79 people had been tested for measles so far with four of those people having tested positive for the disease. Vaccination efforts have been centered around the locations where these patients originate from,

So far 3001 people have been vaccinated.
