Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameedh has revealed that they have launched an investigation into the alleged case of police brutality during the confrontation with the public last Friday in Hulhumale'.

Public gathered around a flat in Hulhumale last Friday after the father of the 2 year old rape victim was said to be hiding there.

In a tweet sent out on Sunday, CP Hameedh noted that he was aware of the incident and that a team from their Professional Standards had visited the woman who had suffered from getting beaten up by the police.

"Aware of an incident where a middle aged woman was allegedly hit by a police officer during the situation near Flat 108 in HulhuMale’ on 17th Jan. I spoke to a family member of the lady yesterday & a team from Professional Standards have visited her. An investigation is launched," the tweet read.

Police confirmed that their Professional Standard Command launched their investigation last Friday itself.
