Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Shidhatha Shareef has said that the two-year-old girl who was raped in Gaafu Alifu Kanduhulhudhoo is in critical conditional under the protection of the ministry.

The Minister made the statement talking to the press at the protest rally in front of the Gender Ministry against child abuse.

Minister Shidhatha said that the Ministry is working with the relevant authorities to ensure the proper medical care and protection is being given to the child.

Maldives Police Service arrested two people today in Kanduhulhudhoo in connection to the rape of the two-year-old girl.

The two people who were arrested are the victims grandfather and great-grandfather.
