Health Ministry has begun works of establishing a registry of unvaccinated children in the wake of the measles outbreak in the Maldives.

The state had announced a measles outbreak in the Maldives last Monday after a child and an adult was confirmed to have measles. The state had also advised anyone with an incomplete dose of the vaccine to complete their doses at the soonest.

Speaking during a press meet tonight, Health Minister Ibrahim Ameen revealed that works are now underway to establish a database of all unvaccinated children under eighteen years across the nation. As such he noted that most of the registry would be complete by tomorrow while the entire registry would be done within the week.

After recognising the children who are unvaccinated, programs will be run in islands to vaccinate those children.

Information on unvaccinated children from 48 islands have now been received according to the Minister, and vaccination arrangements are now being made for them.
