Former President Abdulla Yameen has expressed concern since the High Court has delayed making a decision on his bail appeal, after he was convicted of money laundering and sentenced to five years in jail.
President Yameen's legal team submitted to the High Court for bail on December 18th, 2019. Even though the case was received by the High Court, the court is yet to make a decision on it.
Former Vice President Mohamed Jameel who is part of the legal team of President Yameen shared his message of concern regarding the delays.
In his message, the President noted that justice would be granting him bail without any differences from others. He had raised questions about the court and it being just since the court had failed to make a decision on it for over a month.
President Yameen was sentenced to five years in jail and a USD 5 million fine on November 28.
