A Maldivian man has gone missing after the cargo vessel he was on crashed on a reef newar Kaafu Atoll Kagi.

MNDF said that the vessel that crashed on the reef near Kagi is named “T.T.S. Faan” and the incident was reported to the Maldives Rescue and Coordination Center this morning at 8:09 a.m. A local captain and two expat crewmen were on board a the time of the incident.

The missing man is a 37-year-old man according to the MNDF and his bag and phone are on board the vessel. Following the missing person’s report, Coast Guard’s Fast Interception Craft (FIC) “Velana” is active in the area.

A man went missing in a similar incident on Wednesday following a collision at sea involving a dinghy and a speed launch. Rescue Services are still looking for him as well.
