Deputy Secretary General of MDP, Afshan Latheef has decided to withdraw from the run for Male' City Mayor.

Afshan made the announcement through a tweet.

She noted that her decision to run for the position was based on her want to create a better city, where people would be able to lead dignified lives. But due to certain family responsibilities she has had to undertake all of a sudden, she has to withdraw from the run.

Afshan wished all candidates running at the MDP primaries best of luck, and added that she will fully support whoever wins.

Many have expressed their interest to run for Male City Mayor at the Local Council Elections slated for April.
