Contracts have been awarded and signed to develop harbors on six islands in the country.

The developments are signed are Alifu Dhaalu Dhihdhoo, Shaviyani Atoll Feydhoo, Kaafu Atoll Hinmafushi, Shaviyani Atoll Foakaidhoo, Raa Atoll Rasgatheemu and Alifu Dhaalu Hanyameedhoo.

All six contracts were signed yesterday at a special ceremony at the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure.

And so, the harbor projects at Dhihdhoo and Rasgatheemu are contracted to Heavy Force Private Limited and the agreement for the project was signed by the Director General of the Planning Ministry, Fathimath Shaan and the Managing Director of Heavy Force, Ibrahim Zameer.

The harbor projects at the other four islands were contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The agreements for the project were signed by Director General Shaan and the COO of MTCC, Shahid Hussain Moosa.

Details of the projects are as follows:

  • Alifu Dhaalu Dhihdhoo harbor project is valued at MVR 21,965,238.75 and agreed to be completed within 300 days.
  • Shayani Atoll Feydhoo harbor project is valued at MVR 33,144,965.10 and agreed to be completed within 480 days.
  • Kaafu Atoll Hinmafushi harbor project is valued at MVR 24,602,989.02 and agreed to be completed within 365 days.
  • Shaviyani Atoll Foakaidhoo harbor project is valued at MVR 55,974,940.88 and agreed to be completed within 500 days.
  • Raa Atoll Rasgatheemu harbor and jetty project is valued at MVR 50,000,095.25 and agreed to be completed within 420 days.
  • Alifu Dhaalu Hanyameedhoo harbor project is valued at MVR 32,280,570.61 and agreed to be completed within 300 days.
