A Maldivian accused of supporting and spreading extremist ideologies has been arrested from AA. Maalhos.

Maldives Police Service confirmed that a 45 year old Maldivian male had been arrested, but did not reveal any further details.

They added that the man was arrested around 11:44 today on the counts of spreading extremist ideologies, neglecting a proper upbringing children and wedding minors in marriages that are not legally registered.

Police is currently investigating the case further.
