Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has said that there are payments pending from 13,894 customers which totals up to MVR 131 million.

Talking to the press regarding the unpaid bills to MWSC, the Managing Director of the Company, Adam Azim said that the total is from both domestic and commercial customers which is 20 percent of their customer base from their 49,000 customers.

Azim said that the number of customers who have not paid their bills for over an year are at 1,570 and the number of customers who have not paid their bills for two months are at 4,492.

He said that a daily surcharge is being added delayed payments and the longer it takes to pay the bill, the bigger the fine will be. However, the company has decided to find an easy payment plan after talkin to the customers as to why the payment is being delayed.

And so, customers with pending bill payments can visit the MWSC offices before 16 June 2020 and explain the challenges in paying the bills to find an easy payment solution.
