Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed that the main airport, Velana International Airport has once again set a new traffic record on runway movements yesterday.

As per MACL, the flight movement on 01 December was recorded at 226 which was broken by 239 total flight movements on December 22nd.

A total of 101 International flights, 121 domestic flights and AD-Hoc 17 movements were recorded on the day.

A media official of MACL revealed to One Online that this was the result of the hard work and long hours put in by their staff.

This marks the third time this record has been broken this year.

The increase in flight movement coincides with peak tourism season, which usually picks up late November every year and lasts into February-March of the following year.
