Male’ Waste and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has handed over the rest area they developed for tourists at the Masveringe Park (Fishermen’s Park), to the Male’ City Council.

At a special handover ceremony held this morning at the Masveringe Park, the handover was made by the Managing Director of MWSC, Adam Azim and was accepted by the Male’ City Mayor, Shifa Mohamed.

MWSC developed the amenities as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project with some of the services required by tourists visiting the capital.

Aside from restrooms, the building includes a rest area, luggage storage and shower facilities along with information services.

The official opening date of the facilities are yet to be announced by the City Council.

Deputy Mayor of Male’ City, Shauma Shareef, told One Online today that the facility is unofficially providing service with the handover. She said that they are in the process of evaluating to establish a tariff for the services.

While the Maldives Police Service is set to take over security, the Deputy Mayor said that they are working to ensure only tourist vessels can port there to and cannot be docked for a long time.
