Velana International Airport has reopened their runway after closing it for a brief period today to clear runway debris.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) revealed that the runway closed between 20 mins from 3:55pm to 4:15pm to clear runway debris. They added that the runway will once again be closed tonight from 7:00pm to 7:30pm for maintenance.
"We will be taking all measures to mitigate disruption to flight operations during the planned closure," the company said via a tweet.
The earlier closure also resulted in various flight delays and diversions.
