President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih Mohamed Solih has arrived in Laamu atoll to take part the special ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Laamu Hithadhoo Health Center.

The President is being accompanied on the visit by the Health Minister, Abdulla Ameen, Economic Minister, Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Zaha Waheed along with the MP for Fonadhoo constituency, Moosa Siraj and the MP for Gan constituency, Mohamed Waseem.

President Solih is set to visit Funadhoo and Hithadhoo as well on this visit.

Health Ministry said that the Hithadhoo Health Center’s 50th anniversary function will be held at 4 p.m. this evening at the Laamu Hithadhoo School.

The Hithadhoo Health Center was opened on 1 December 1969. Health Ministry said that the health center was opened 50years ago with one health assistant and had its first doctor on9 June 1997. Today, the health center has a laboratory, an admission ward and a birthing room. The health center also conducts public health programs and under the mobile laboratory program, testing and results are provided to Maamendhoo and Kunahandhoo health centers after samples are sent in.

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh told One Online that President Solih is set to meet the Laamu Atoll Council and heads of different institutes in the atoll.
