Male’ City Mayor, Shifa Mohamed, has said that there the Maldivian capital has no more vehicle parking spaces.

In a tweet sent out today, Mayor Shifa said that all institutes need to work together to find a solution regarding the number of vehicles entering the city.

“Residences have been filled. The Council decision (regarding the matter) is clear; there are no more parking spaces.

While the Male’ City Council has called for a united effort to resolve the high number of vehicles, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula, has previously said that the number of vehicles can be reduced by increasing public transport.

Responding to questions at the parliament regarding controlling the import of vehicles earlier in the year, Minister Nahula said that the main work to address the issue is to introduce a mini-bus service in the city.
