MP for Addu Maradhoo constituency, Ibrahim Shareef, has said that at the end of the third session of the 19th Parliament, he would give the work of the parliament a C grade.

He made the remark speaking on CNM’s “Ithurukaafu” program last night.

Shareef said that despite his grade, the parliament worked hard this year and on some days, MPs worked from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. but the productivity was not great.

MP Shareef, who was also on the parliament that passed the current Constitution in practice, said that the current parliament is very young and so decision making is not that good on some issues. He said that more than writing a constitution, it needs to be accepted by the institutes and people in charge of implementing it.

While the parliament has gone to a two-month recess after three sessions, the Speaker of the Parliament, the former President, Mohamed Nasheed, has graded the parliament with a B grade saying that the parliament’s attendance has been kept at 92 percent.
