The driving license of an MTCC bus driver has been seized after he used his mobile phone while driving.

Following a video of the incident in question leaked on social media, Maldives Police Service tweeted that the driver in question has been summoned to the traffic police and his driver’s license has been seized and was given a warning.

The video shows the bus going from Hulhule’ to Hulhumale’ on the highway. And at the highway traffic light, the driver takes out his phone and makes a call. And when the light turns green, the driver continues the journey while still on the phone.

The person who uploaded the video said that the driver was initially asleep and woke up when the ticket handler called him.

Recently, a 13-year-old girl lost her life in a traffic collision on the bridge involving a motorcycle and an MTCC bus. Police is currently investigating that case.
