According to the operator of Velana International Airport, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) the airport has set a new record high of flight movements last Sunday.
As per MACL, the flight movement on 01 December was recorded at 226, while the last recorded peak flight movement at the airport was back in December 2018.
In December 2018, the flight movement through a 24-hour cycle was recorded at 219.
MACL reports international flight movements on the first of December was recorded at 102 while domestic flight movements were at 121.
The increase in flight movement coincides with peak tourism season, which usually picks up late November every year and lasts into February-March of the following year.
